John Beighton is our principal solicitor. His strong vision has led the business successfully since its humble beginnings in the early 1970s, and he continues to head the office today. Mr. Beighton qualified as a Solicitor in 1973 and obtained his LLB from London University.

He directly heads and manages the Property Law Department, Leases, Property Disputes, Charity Law as well as Wills and Probate. Mr. Beighton’s expertise is the backbone of those departments in the firm, and his mentoring abilities combined with his recruiting skills have ensured that the departments have excellent teams.

Previous to the opening of Beighton’s Solicitors, Mr. Beighton worked in Birmingham and Loughborough doing criminal Law in the Magistrates Courts and Crown Court in the area of contentious matters. A Derby man himself, Mr. Beighton decided to come back to the city and expand his services with the opening of his own firm, which has been growing ever since.

Previous to his career in law, Mr Beighton gained extensive experience in the Hotel and Catering industry, having undertaken a BSc in Business Administration at Surrey University geared for that particular niche industry. Added to his degree was personal experience assisting in the management of a family business in the same area. Mr. Beighton, therefore, also deals with Hotel and Catering matters that come to the firm directly.

In his spare time, Mr. Beighton dedicates his efforts to charitable work helping those in need. He is the European Co-ordinator of the Alliance of the Holy Family International, a pro-family Catholic Lay Apostolate.
