Debt Department

During this current climate we understand that debt is affecting an increasing part of the population and this is why in Beighton’s we have an initial 30 minute consultation completely free of charge. Our main Debt Matters solicitor also comes from a previous career in the banking and financial industry which has given him the insider knowledge you need on your side.

Are You Owed Money?

We have experience assisting individuals, sole traders and companies who are owed money either by individuals or organisations. We can identify and discuss the appropriate course of action to pursue your debtors, including suing them, issuing statutory demands, communication, court proceedings and enforcement among other things.

If you are owed wages or have been underpaid please see our Employment Department.

If you are owed rent please see our Commercial Department.

Do You Owe Money?

Mounting bills and increasing debts are scary things, but ignoring them or putting them off will not make them go away, just make them worse. We can help improve your credit rating and help you settle outstanding debts, as well as being able to help you avoid property repossession. We have experience liaising with individuals and organisation to find affordable and manageable ways to re-pay different debts.

In the very recent past, we have also had clients who have had property repossession proceedings issued against them, and have successfully assisted them in avoiding the repossession and keeping their home.

If you are facing bankruptcy or are considering it as an option, we can sit down together and take look at your current situation and all the different options and assess whether or not bankruptcy would be right for you. Although we strongly advise against bankruptcy and will do our best to identify other viable solutions, we understand that bankruptcy is sometimes appropriate and we have the experience to assist you with the process.

Likewise, if you are facing an IVA (individual voluntary arrangements) we can advise you and set one up for you if it is a viable option.

For further information or to book a free initial consultation please contact our office, or feel free to contact Antony Ussher directly.
